Broadway Nails

Thanks to flippery digits for the short broadway nails to try.  Thought as the nails aren't growing and breaking constantly it was time to try this out.  This was my friday night, making sure i had the time to dedicate myself to the process.

All setup,  ready to start

Started on the left hand as i always start on the left.  Pinky done, just found i had to wait 10 seconds to set instead of five.  moved onto ring finger and not a problem, moved onto middle finger,  np  Then ......

Too much glue, caused the nail to stick to my right pointer finger

Glad the acetone and cotton balls were handy, some patience and soaking helped remove the nail without removing too much skin on the right pointer fingertip.

Alright let's do this again.  The nail isn't too damaged lets reuse it.

Second attempt at the right index finger and this time was a doozy
I didn't learn from the first gluing of the nail to my index finger so i did it again but i ended up gluing my left index finger pad to my right thumb pad and the nail to my right middle finger....okay don't panic acetone and cotton balls are near by, roommate is downstairs if need be. grab the acetone soak cotton ball, stick on stuck fingers.  then *can you believe this* i grabbed camera to try to take a pic of my stuck fingers, couldn't figure out how to work the camera , then  decided to grab the acetone to take to bathroom in case i want to pour the whole acetone directly onto the stuck fingers.  Well didn't get need the roomie to help me out, as cotton balls, q-tips, acetone and patience helped get the fingers unstuck.    then onto removing the nail from the finger again. Tried to be patience but found if i lifted the nail a bit it helped....so lost a little bit more skin on the right pointer. With all the acetone it took the finish off the nail so lets look for another nail in the package, no other size 4 let's try size 5 instead, oh what do you know i don't even need to file it down either.

So i tried a third time to put a nail on that index finger, less glue and use the orange stick to help press down and voila....

No more stuck fingers or stuck nails to fingers, it went smooth from there.

My soccer game today as goalie i did end up losing the right middle finger but it popped off very nicely, without taking my natural nail with it. hurt for a while during the game. It's about 6 hours later and i feel no pain on that nail....
Well not it's time to fix the right middle finger again but i have to be careful with the acetone as i don't want to wreck the other nails in the process and i don't think gluing over top of glue would be a good decision.

Quickie - DS Extravagance DS026

Just an quick update. I haven't been doing any manicures lately been a little disappointed with the the little to non-growth and the breakage. i think it's the Saskatchewan weather.  It's been cold the last week.  Today it was -40C.  can't wait till March then hopefully we will get some warmer days.
For the last week, I've been thinking of putting on some Broadway nails have had the tips picked out for each nail just need to glue them to the nails but i think the process is scaring me (i think the last time i tried falsies was as a teen) I keep wondering if it will damage my natural nails when i go to remove them, wondering if soccer will cause the nails to pop off (just what i need a false nail in my goalie glove).

Here is the latest color i did on my nails  but apparently didn't take pics of the mani so here is some swatches on the falsies.

Black base with DS applied overtop - one coat each.

Apparently some cat hair snuck into the pic too.

OPI DS Extravagance DS026 - i love this color

OPI Log on to Love & Rimmel Black Satin

This is my Friday mani and my only valentine mani...i wasn't going to do one but viewing everyone else on my blogroll v-day mani's i had to go with the flow.

Base coat - OPI  Log on to Love
French tips - Rimmel Black satin
Nail Art - Sally Hansen black nail art pen
Top Coat - Seche Vite

Sorry for the cathair and looks like i needed to do more cleanup before i took pics.  I honestly did some cleanup just forgot the camera sees all.

*I'm happy with this black Sally Hansen pen seems to work much better than my white one ever did, now just need to practice with it.

I need to credit this design as my inspiration came from canadian nail fanatic.I wasn't trying to duplicate this mani it just happened.  I wanted to try the french tip technique that Chloe's  had posted in her tutorial using scotch tape...so easy except the thumb nail wasn't drying and once i removed the scotch tape the base coat came with it.  Had to do the thumb twice and the second time the base coat peeled again, but this time i just painted the base coat onto the nail instead of redoing the nail. Funny cause all the other nails were dry and had no problems.

Happy Valentine's Day.

New Pics added

Finally, a nail polish that is worthy of posting pics.   I've been painting the nails since my last post but not extremely happy with them so i didn't even take pictures.  The last polish CHI didn't last a work day so it wasn't worthy of pics.  Think the CHI needed three coats of polish as my peeling nail was peeking through the polish.

I'll post pics later tonight of the current OPI polish.  I might try some nailart on it later but the bead bracelet i promised my friend's  8 year daughter must come first.

Also will post my zentangles later this weekend....what is zentangles? you may ask,  i'll explain that too.

edit...i might have spoke too soon, i forgot to wrap my nail polish over the free edge and i have tips showing the seche vite QD shrinkage strikes again.

Base coat:  OPI Over the taupe & Log on to love

Love the color combination but dislike the shrinkage, going to try to fix by adding a french tip in red art deco.
